If Todd can see them, so can I.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 9, 2008
Tuesday, December 9, 2008, Anchorage, Alaska – Andrée McLeod, Alaska resident and registered republican, filed court papers yesterday contesting the governor office’s refusal to disclose Todd Palin’s email documents in response to a public record request filed by McLeod in June, 2008.
"This latest refusal by the governor’s office to hold back official state emails received or sent by Todd Palin has left me no other choice,” McLeod said. "The state can’t cloak these communications in secrecy when the governor and her staff have broken the chain of custody by sharing them with a mere private citizen. Therefore, that entitles all citizens the right to examine these documents in the light of day.”
"It’s all about the public’s right to know the inner working of their government and how state officials are discharging the public trust,” McLeod said.
Note: On October 2, 2008 Andrée McLeod filed separate court papers seeking retrieval, preservation and retention of public records generated by Governor Sarah Palin and her staff while using private email accounts. That case is still in progress.
